Getting ready for the lads arriving, yours truly, and one of the items getting tested today is this baby (eat your heart out Steve Wells lol). A new Gilet (pronounced Jil-lay Phill ross) heated with a plug in power pack. You can spend a lot of money on these, this is a "good value" one and not too expensive, so I await to see how good it is.
"Meet the gang coz the boys are here.........", showing my age now!
And todays "gang" have turned up, looking suitably up and ready for it, Mablethorpe here we come.
Bringing up the rear is John "Johnny Vendor" Tod and at the front is Phil "Tricky" Ross who is especially looking forward to Mablethorpe lol.
Well, we get to what should have been our destination and the chippy that advertises it is open on a Monday was in fact closed, so 0 out of ten for the Robin Hood chippy !
Never ones to give up our search continued.
Always a photo opportunity when you see that lovely brown sea, smile boys. We would have had to pay for parking if we stayed here, so on we went !
After a little searching and riding around Mablethorpe, and after two more closed chippies, the master took over point and within a minute I had found a chippy that was open.
Free-ish parking across the road in the Co op car park, thank you Co op, I did go and buy some Hob Nobs for the privilege .
The Leaning Chippy of Mablethorpe, really, it is leaning !
Second test of the day, the Hob Nobs, general consensus was "a little pinky in the air" mmmmm
Then it was the highlight of the day, the fish n chips. Excellent service from the ladies in the chippy, we chose to sit outside as the weather was gorgeous for the time of year and they just gave us a shout when they were ready, heaven !
Then, as always it was cake time, small portions for me now, but gorgeous carrot cake for me n choccy cake for them, cheers Tilly Charles.
Fish n chips devoured we set off on our travels, Willingham Woods our next destination and somehow we lost Tricky (It wasn't my fault).
We are not lost, honest lol, Toddy actually asked ME which way to go lol.
Hurry up Toddy, I cant bear this much longer.
Eventually found our way to Willy Woods AND found Tricky, as happy as ever.
Lovely lady let me take this photo of her and her gorgeous bike, thank you.
Just three of the beauties there today.
Got to admit I don't think I had ever seen one of these before, stunning motorcycle.
Just beautiful.
Toddy suggested we pop into a mate of his on our way back to Sunny Scunny, so I was introduced to a new friend, Paul Borrell (Bozzer), anyone into their club racing back in the day may remember him from his racing days, absolute top geezer !
Tricky had veered off home as he was eating AGAIN at 6.30 in Brigg at The Mumbai Indian I don't know how he stays so sylphlike ! The last port of call for myself and Toddy, was a fine public house in the town for a fine brew of coffee served by the lovely Casandra.
I don't know one but it is a great name for a pub lol.
Chillin' with a brew, something we should all do more often !
All in all it was an absolutely great day, almost perfect for riding, could of done with being a bit warmer but bright, dry and little wind so no complaints.
We had to take a couple of diversions because of roadworks but that just makes it more interesting, some beautiful views, architecture and most importantly some great roads. As I said to Toddy when we got lost (Well, technically HE got us lost coz he was point lol ) it is always and adventure if you ride with me, for some reason everyone's in built sat nav goes AWOL !
As I said earlier it was a test day, of sorts. First time out on the Michelin Road 6 rear tyre, so it was steadyish but all I can say is I was very impressed, handled everything perfectly, never slipped or skipped a beat and just took all the different road surfaces with ease, nearly always had Dunlops in the past but these seem at least as good, we will see in time, tbf the Road 4's were good.
New sprockets and chain also first time out proper, and what a difference, no knocking noises from between my legs ! I was super worried hearing the knocking but Steve advised me it will be my front sprocket and he was right, huge thanks Steve Wells for all the work you did.
Thanks to The Visor shop, Hunters Motorcycles, Shed 25, Colin Willoughby's and Crowy The Sigman for excellent service.
And last but not least, the gilet, a sensible, rational, intelligent description would be that it was toasty, and for the very cold days it is now a must !
Thank you to Toddy, Tricky and new friend Bozzer for some great company.
Pleased you all had a good ride out and you kept warm with your new body warmer.... if I'd not been working I could have come with you's.... Good news about the tyres and pleased the knocking has gone 😁.
Hopefully next ride out I will be off work 🙃😉.
