Whitby, we love you !

Updated: Jul 9, 2023

All the usual checks and a good clean for "April" before our epic journey (Well, epic for me lol)

So, we had decided to go Northwards on a trip to the beautiful coastal port of Whitby. The night before I worked out a nice route incorporating stops for nourishment (toilets really!). I rode point to the first destination, Fridaythorpe, without a hitch. Wingman Steve took over afterwards missing out completely the next destination, just saying lol.

A great well established cafe, especially welcoming to bikers, although the advertising is a little misleading, depending where you look they close at 4pm or 6pm, anyway we had a lovely cup of coffee served by a very polite young lady, and you get your daily steps in going to the toilet, Steve had hair before he went !

As I said Steve missed out completely our next destination which was to be Helmsley, so onwards to the beautiful Falling Foss tea rooms and waterfall .

Our beautiful babies together.

Good pose Steve.

Stop it lol.

An absolute heaven for Phil Ross !!!

A gorgeous walk, allegedly, not in motorcycle boots though.

Steve stand on a box to be higher than the bears.

The twig held ! A bikers nightmare, soft ground, good thinking Steve.

Ah, he's getting on a bit, its not a good sign when I am ahead of you !

And then onto Whitby, and the reason for the trip. The much acclaimed Trenchers Fish and Chip Shop, I knew the Magpie Restaurant is awesome but had never tried Trenchers, winners of Best Chip Shop in Britain 2019, so here goes. We had parked up straight opposite Trenchers but even with a Satnav we walked straight past , it was probably the excitement, I think you can tell by the smile what the result was !

We finally found them, its big enough, and as there was a long queue for the restaurant we decided on a takeaway, we couldn't wait smelling that awesome aroma !

Well worth the trip, excellent fish n chips, the fish, especially, was perfect, big juicy flakes of fish that just melted in your mouth covered in a perfect batter.

Steve did embarrass me by asking for a "small" haddoack, "We only do one size" was the reply, well done Trenchers and my deepest apologies, he does this everywhere we go !

Steve is actually looking at Trenchers chippy and we STILL walked past it !

Steve in his favourite coffee shop, "We don't do cash" and then we had to collect our drinks on being told, while everyone else got served to their table, Steve was not impressed, surely it wasn't the leathers ???

Beautiful Whitby, and always make sure you know where the toilets are !

Never tire of this sight.

A quick park up and view of the Abbey.

The best pic of the day mmmmmmm.

If you serve us ice cream, fish n chips, wine etc we love you, well maybe not wine for Steve.

The beautiful village of Helmsley, or as Henry Cole would say "The quintessential English village" .

No need Steve, its not big and its not clever

Great little boozer and excellent coffee, first class service from a very polite young man, thank you.
